Ohio Public Libraries

Ohio has some of the best library systems in the country. Libraries are obviously important to the people, communities, voters and elected officials. We proudly fund our public libraries, making it known over and over how libraries impact and improve our communities, educational systems and the lives of Ohioans. I am very proud of us for that and to be a part of the library system in this state.
Another noteworthy literary aspect of Ohio is the amazing authors and illustrators of books for all ages. The Ohioana Library is a great resource for Ohio authors and illustrators, including the Ohio Literary Trail. The Ohio Center for the Book's literary map will show you around Ohio, author by author, illustrator by illustrator.

Choose to Read Ohio.

Near and dear to my heart is the Choose to Read Ohio initiative. A program through the State Library of Ohio, authors and illustrators from Ohio are promoted including tool kits and readers guides which users can access. I have been an Advisory Team Member since 2010 when I became involved during a graduate school practicum at the State Library of Ohio. As part of that team I help compile lists of books that we believe are quality works, and create tool kits for picture books on the list. We have so many fantastic authors and illustrators in Ohio!
